French luxury leather retailer Maison Moreau has leased a unit at 21 Bruton Street in Mayfair from Miller Harris, for its first UK store.
Maison Moreau has taken on the existing lease on the 580 sq ft store with a 712 sq ft basement, which has six years remaining. It will pay a passing rent of £137,500 per annum.
It is understood that the tenant has paid a premium to open within one of the city’s most prestigious retail locations, close to Diane von Furstenberg, Stella McCartney and Paul & Joe.
Maison Moreau currently has stand-alone stores in Paris and Tokyo and distributes through Joseph and Barneys New York. The brand began life as a leather and luxury luggage goods manufacturer in Paris in 1882. In 2011, the House of Rovnoff launched a new collection under the name of Moreau Paris, bringing the iconic brand back into mainstream sales.
